Pioneer

Pioneer Corporation is a multinational corporation specializing in digital entertainment products based in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. The company was founded by Nozomu Matsumoto in 1938 in Tokyo as a radio and speaker repair service, and its current president is Susumu Kotani.

Pioneer has played a role in the development of interactive cable television, laser disc player, first car CD player, first removable stereo system, Supertuner technology, DVD and DVD recording, plasma screen (with Kuro brand) and organic LED display (OLED). The company works with optical disc and display technology and software products and is also a manufacturer. Sharp Corporation acquired a 14% stake in Pioneer in 2007, down to 9%, but Sharp remains the largest shareholder in Pioneer Corporation, followed by Honda Motor Co., Ltd., which holds about 4% of Pioneer shares. between the two companies in 2010 to strengthen business ties.

In March 2010, Pioneer ceased production of the TVs, announced on 12 February 2009. On 25 June 2009, Sharp Corporation agreed to set up a joint venture for their optical company called the “Pioneer Digital Design and Manufacturing Corporation”.
